All salmon and halibut fishing gear is supplied. We clean
and ice your fish to preserve the taste and quality. Please
bring adequate coolers for transporting your salmon and

Your salmon and halibut fishing charter
begins in the harbour of Ucluelet which
is located in the heart of Pacific Rim National
Park. ABCharters has
over 30 years experience in commercial and sport fishing
for salmon and halibut with 14 years of charter fishing
in Alberni
Inlet, Barkley Sound, and the surrounding
offshore areas including
Ucluelet and Bamfield.
We begin our salmon fishing season in the Alberni
Inlet for Sockeye salmon. Most of our June to September
fishing for salmon and halibut is up to 23 miles offshore
on La Perouse Bank. Large
schools of migrating Chinook (King salmon) and Coho (Silver
salmon) stop to feed on the abundance of krill, herring,
anchovies, pilchard, squid, and needlefish that are present
on the Bank. The voracious feeding on this bait leads
to incredible salmon and halibut fishing that is known to
out-produce Alaska fishing trips. Whales are a common sight
during offshore salmon and halibut fishing trips.
When the conditions are right, later
in the season, we can take you saltwater Coho
salmon fly fishing. Our vessel is a walk-around design
and two can cast from either end of the vessel, or we can
bucktail for surface feeders at a fast troll for some spectacular
action.
